Government Permits UPSC to Use Aadhaar-Based Authentication for Candidate Verification

New Delhi : The government has authorized the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to implement Aadhaar-based authentication to verify candidates’ identities. This decision follows a recent controversy involving Puja Khedkar, whose provisional candidature was canceled after it was discovered that she had fraudulently utilized multiple attempts in the Civil Services Examination beyond her eligibility. Khedkar’s use of a fake identity led to her being barred from all future UPSC exams.

The move to incorporate Aadhaar-based verification aims to prevent similar incidents by ensuring that each candidate’s identity is accurately verified. This is expected to bolster the transparency and fairness of the examination process.
