New Delhi, October 7, 2025 — Union Minister of Power, Manohar Lal, will represent India at the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting (ETMM) scheduled to be held in KwaZulu Natal Province, South Africa, from October 7 to 10, 2025. The meeting, hosted under South Africa’s G20 Presidency, will bring together global energy leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities shaping the world’s energy future.
During the event, Manohar Lal will participate in key sessions on “Energy Security, Clean Cooking, Affordable and Reliable Access” and “Sustainable Industrial Development.” The discussions aim to strengthen international cooperation to ensure universal access to affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy — a cornerstone for achieving global economic growth and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Highlighting India’s success in renewable energy, Manohar Lal will share the nation’s remarkable progress under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India recently achieved a major milestone by generating 50% of its total power capacity from renewable sources, significantly ahead of global expectations. This achievement reinforces India’s commitment to a greener, cleaner, and more resilient energy future.
The Minister will also present India’s experiences and best practices in enhancing energy access, affordability, and security, particularly in rural and developing regions. He is expected to stress that energy transitions and climate change are pressing global challenges that require equitable collaboration, especially to support developing nations facing resource and capacity constraints.
Reaffirming India’s commitment to a “just, affordable, and inclusive energy transition,” Shri Manohar Lal will emphasize the country’s alignment with the global vision of “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”
The Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) and Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting (ETMM) will be held in person at The Capital Hotel, Zimbali, Durban, serving as a key platform to advance the G20 agenda on clean, secure, and equitable energy systems worldwide.
India’s participation at the G20 ETMM underscores its leadership role in global climate action and its unwavering resolve to balance growth with sustainability — ensuring that the benefits of progress reach every section of society.
