Masked Driver Breaches Delhi Assembly Security, Leaves Bouquet Before Fleeing

High-alert declared as car crashes through VIP gate; probe underway to identify suspect and motive

A major security lapse was reported at the Delhi Legislative Assembly complex on Monday afternoon after a masked individual drove a vehicle through restricted entry points and carried out an unusual act before escaping.

According to officials, the incident took place around 2 pm when the car forcefully entered through a VIP-designated gate, damaging both the iron entrance and a boom barrier in the process. The driver then moved further inside the premises and briefly stopped near the porch area close to the official vehicle of Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta.

In a puzzling turn of events, the man stepped out, placed a bouquet at the location, and quickly drove away from the complex. Authorities are treating the episode as a serious breach of security protocols.

Senior police officers, including Anil Shukla and Ravindra Yadav, reached the site soon after the incident. Bomb disposal squads and crime branch teams conducted thorough checks, but no suspicious materials were discovered.

The vehicle involved has been identified as a white Tata Sierra bearing registration from Uttar Pradesh. Preliminary records suggest the car is registered under the name Sarbjit Singh, though officials have not confirmed whether he was behind the wheel at the time.

Investigators are currently questioning security personnel present at the gate and inside the complex to determine how the breach occurred. Police are also examining claims from a rickshaw driver who alleged he was struck by the same vehicle shortly after the incident outside the premises.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to establish the identity of the suspect and the intent behind the act. Further updates are expected as the probe continues.
