Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Launches Amphibious Machine for Pankha Road Drain Desilting

New Delhi, March 13: Today, along with the Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta, a new amphibious machine (short boom) was launched for desilting work at the Pankha Road drain. The modern equipment is expected to accelerate the cleaning process and enhance the overall efficiency of drain maintenance in the area.

These advanced machines will help in cleaning the drains more effectively and will further strengthen Delhi’s drainage infrastructure, especially ahead of the monsoon season. Officials stated that the initiative is aimed at reducing waterlogging issues and improving urban sanitation.

On the occasion, Delhi’s Education Minister and Janakpuri MLA Ashish Sood said that the government is continuously working towards building a clean and waterlogging-free Delhi. He highlighted that one of the key commitments made during the Assembly elections was the beautification of Pankha Road, ensuring it becomes clean, garbage-free, and properly maintained, along with the long-pending cleaning of the drain.

He noted that due to years of inadequate maintenance, local residents had faced problems such as waterlogging and foul odour during the rainy season. Since the formation of the government, efforts have been underway to address these concerns in a systematic manner.

Sood informed that new drain walls have already been constructed, and within the first 100 days of the government, the initial phase of cleaning and beautification of one section has been completed. He added that further development work is progressing steadily.

Extensive dredging and cleaning operations inside the drain are now being carried out using MVPS machines, which will increase the drain’s depth and improve its internal structure. Alongside this, the service lane is also being developed with landscaping features, including hanging gardens and modern lighting.

The government expressed confidence that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, this important electoral promise made to the people of West Delhi will soon be fulfilled, contributing to long-term improvements in infrastructure and urban cleanliness.
