NEW DELHI, 17 JUNE: INCIDENT:
On 7th, 10th and 16th of May 2025, three incidents of e-rickshaw thefts were reported at PS Burari, accordingly 03 MVT cases vide e-FIR No. (1) 12702/25 dated 07/05/25 U/s 305(b) BNS, PS Burari, (2) E-FIR No. 12983/25 dated 10/05/25 U/s 305(b) BNS, PS Burari, & (3) E-FIR No. 13518/25 dated 16/05/25 U/s 305(b) BNS, PS Burari and thereafter on 26/05/2025, another incident of e-rickshaw theft was also reported.
TEAM, INVESTIGATION & OPERATION:
Seeing the gravity and sudden surg in such incidents of e-rickshaw thefts, three dedicated teams in the leadership of SI Naveen Sindhu (Incharge PP Govt. Hospital Burari), comprising SI Shubham Latiyan, ASI Ravinder Tomar, HC Rohtash, HC Rahish, HC Pardeep, HC Sandeep, HC Sonu Balhara, HC Surender Dhillon, HC Devender Chillar, HC Dharam Singh, Ct Uttam, Ct Arun, Ct Anuj Dhama and Ct Dinesh were formed, under the close supervision of Inspr. Sanjay Kumar, SHO/PS Burari and guidance of Shri Anil Kumar Yadav, officiating ACP/Sub-Division, Timarpur, Delhi with the specific guidelines & directions. Particular tasks to work on CCTV Cameras, local intelligence and interrogation of accused persons same modus operandi were assigned to the all the three teams. Then the team members started work on CCTV Cameras, local intelligence and interrogation of accused persons same modus operandi. On analysis of the CCTV Cameras, it had come to know that the accused persons used to come on a bike. The route of the auto-lifters was followed with the help of CCTV Cameras and at last they were supported at Nihal Vihar. Routes of the auto-lifters were found ended at Nihal Vihar in all the incident, where they used to hand over the vehicle to the receiver. The route of the autolifters was also followed after handing over the stolen e-rickshaw and by following the auto-lifters, the team members reached at Sultanpuri, where one of the auto-lifters was identified as Veerpal r/o Kirari Suleman Nagar, Delhi. In the meantime, on 12/06/2025, another incident of e-rickshaw theft was reported at Burari and accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 016241/25 dated 12/06/2025 u/s 305(B) BNS was registered at PS Burari. The team members checked the CCTV Cameras at Nihal Vihar and the same persons were found involved in this incident also. The team members developed their sources and activated their secret informers. In the intervening night of 12/13, June, 2025, the secret informer gave a tip off that the auto-lifters, who used to steal e-rickshaws from the area of PS Burari has hidden a stolen e-rickshaw at Kadipur, Swaroop Nagar and they are going to take that e-rickshaw from Kadipur, Swaroop Nagar. On receipt of the secret information, the team members immediately rushed to Kadipur, Swaroop Nagar, where the two persons were noticed at Pusta Road pulling an e-rickshaw. At the identification of the secret informer, both the auto-lifters identified as Veerpal r/o D-Block Hari Enclave, Kirari Suleman Nagar, Delhi, age 45 years and Lovekush r/o Under Peeragarhi Flyover (Vagabond) who is permanent resident of Village Mohini, District Kasganj, UP, age 22 years were captured and one stolen e-rickshaw bearing reg. No. DL-11EA-181-V, stolen in e-FIR No. 016241/25 u/s 305(B) BNS, PS Burari, Delhi and one Bike bearing reg. No. DL-5SCE-55-VIII-0, stolen in e-FIR No. 021207/2019, PS Crime Branch, Delhi were recovered from their possession. INTERROGATION:
During interrogation, both accused persons disclosed that they used to sell the stolen e-rickshaws to one Omprakash @ Ommi, who used to meet them at Nihal Vihar, Delhi. The team members immediately rushed to Nihal Vihar and the alleged receiver identified as Om Prakash @ Ommi, r/o C-Block Jawala Puri, Camp No. 4, Nangloi, Delhi, age 49 years was also arrested at the instance of the Veerpal and Lovekush. One stolen e-rickshaw, stolen from the area of PS Swaroop Nagar, tools to dismantle the e-rickshaws, grinders were recovered from his rented premises. He was interrogated regarding the stolen erickshaw, but he didn’t co-operate in the investigation. PC remand of the accused persons was obtained and during the PC Remand 14 more stolen erickshaws were recovered at the instance of the receiver namely Om Prakash @ Ommi. All the accused persons are still on PC Remand and further investigation is being carried out.
INTERROGATION:
During interrogation, it disclosed that the accused persons Veerpal and Lovekush used to steal e-rickshaws from all over Delhi. They used to come in the early morning hours and used to steal the e-rickshaw and thereafter used to sell the same to Om Prakash @ Ommi. The receiver further used to remove the number plates and chassis numbers of the stolen e-rickshaws and used to rented out the stolen e-rickshaws on daily basis @ Rs. 300/- per day. Further investigation is going on. PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSONS:
1. Veerpal, r/o D-Block Hari Enclave, Kirari Suleman Nagar, Delhi, age 45 years. Previously he was found involved in a case of Attempt to Murder registered in PS Aman Vihar, Delhi. He was committing crimes for more than 09 years.
2. Lovekush, r/o Vagabond of Under Peeragarhi Flyover area, Delhi, age 22 years. He is permanent resident of Village Mohini, District Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh, age 22 years.
3. Om Prakash @ Ommi, r/o C-Block Paschim Puri, Camp No. 4, Nangloi, Delhi, age 49 years. He is receiver of stolen E-Rickshaws. He is also an active History Sheet (BC) of PS Paschim Vihar-West, Delhi. He was previously found involved in 11 cases of Snatching, Grievous Hurt, Theft and Arms Act, registered in Police Stations K.N. Katju Marg, Paschim Vihar-West, Mangolpuri, South-Rohini, Sultanpuri and Sagarpur, Delhi.

1. One Motorcycle, make Hero Splendor, stolen in e-FIR No. 021207/2019, PS Crime Branch, Delhi.
2. One e-rickshaw reg. No. DL-11EA-1815, stolen in e-FIR No. 016241/2025 u/s 305(B), BNS, PS Burari, Delhi.
3. One e-rickshaw reg. No. DL-11EB-3074, stolen in e-FIR No. 016256/2025 u/s 305(B) BNS, PS Swaroop Nagar, Delhi.
4. One e-rickshaw reg. No. DL-11EA-1815, stolen in e-FIR No. 012702/2025 u/s 305(B) BNS, PS Burari, Delhi.
5. One e-rickshaw reg. No. DL-11EA-1815, stolen in e-FIR No. 012983/2025 u/s 305(B) BNS, PS Burari, Delhi.
6. One e-rickshaw No. DL-11EA-1815, stolen in e-FIR No. 013518/2025 u/s 305(B) BNS, PS Burari, Delhi.
7. One e-rickshaw, stolen from the area of Uttrakhand Colony, Burari, Delhi.
8. 10 other stolen e-rickshaws. (Yet to be connected with crime).
