Shimla , May 22, 2025: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Shri J.P. Nadda in New Delhi on Wednesday and urged the Centre to extend support for upgrading health infrastructure in the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister highlighted the need for enhanced support in the implementation of centrally sponsored health schemes, including Ayushman Bharat and the National Health Mission (NHM). He emphasized the necessity of improving health facilities, especially in rural and remote areas of Himachal Pradesh.
The Chief Minister made a strong case for establishing a dedicated cancer care centre in the state. He also called for the deployment of advanced medical technologies and modern equipment in government hospitals to ensure that people have access to quality healthcare.
In addition, Shri Sukhu requested the Centre to consider relaxing eligibility criteria for various central schemes to ensure greater inclusivity and to expedite the release of pending funds earmarked for the state.
Union Health Minister Shri J.P. Nadda assured the Chief Minister of full cooperation from the Central Government. He stated that the interests of Himachal Pradesh will be safeguarded and that necessary steps will be taken to support the state’s healthcare priorities.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ram Subhag Singh, Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty, and Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar.
