Moscow, May 16: Russian President Vladimir Putin has appointed Army General Oleg Salyukov as the Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council, according to an official decree released by the government on Thursday.
As part of this leadership change, Salyukov will step down from his role as Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces, a position he has held since 2014, the decree stated.
Throughout his tenure, General Salyukov was instrumental in directing key military operations and traditionally led the Victory Day military parades on Red Square in Moscow, including the most recent event on May 9, according to TASS news agency.
Born in 1955 in Saratov, Salyukov is a veteran officer with decades of military experience, the report noted.
