PM Modi Begins Two-Day Official Visit to Saudi Arabia

New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed for a two-day official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, aimed at bolstering bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation across a wide spectrum of sectors. In a departure statement, PM Modi highlighted the historical and strategic depth of the India-Saudi relationship, calling it a “mutually beneficial and substantive partnership” that has grown significantly over the years.

Describing Saudi Arabia as one of India’s most valued partners in the Gulf region, Prime Minister Modi noted that the relationship between the two nations has evolved beyond traditional trade to embrace key domains such as defence, energy, investment, and people-to-people engagement. He underscored the shared commitment of both countries to regional peace, security, and stability, adding that the visit offers an opportunity to further solidify common strategic interests.

A key highlight of the visit will be PM Modi’s participation in the 2nd Meeting of the India-Saudi Arabia Strategic Partnership Council (SPC). The council, co-chaired by the Prime Minister and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, serves as a high-level platform to review and steer bilateral cooperation in core areas such as economy, security, and technology. The Prime Minister emphasized that he looks forward to building upon the momentum generated by the Crown Prince’s successful state visit to India in 2023.

During his visit, PM Modi is also expected to hold bilateral talks with Saudi leadership to review the progress of previously signed agreements, explore new investment opportunities, and deepen collaboration in clean energy and critical infrastructure. The leaders will likely discuss regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly in the context of global geopolitical shifts and energy security.

In addition to official engagements, PM Modi expressed his eagerness to connect with the vibrant Indian diaspora in Saudi Arabia, whom he referred to as a “living bridge” between the two nations. The Indian community, numbering over 2.5 million, plays a crucial role in strengthening bilateral ties and contributing to Saudi Arabia’s development.
