New Delhi, Apr 16 ,2025 :The Congress party staged a protest in the national capital on Wednesday against the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) recent filing of chargesheets against top leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others in the alleged money laundering case linked to the National Herald.
Speaking to the media, party general secretary Sachin Pilot dismissed the case as baseless and politically driven, asserting that the BJP-led central government is misusing investigative agencies to target the Opposition.
“This is a clear case of political vendetta. There is no concrete evidence, only an attempt to malign the image of the Opposition leaders,” said Pilot.
Echoing similar sentiments, Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate described the developments as a “conspiracy orchestrated by the BJP” and alleged that the ruling party is resorting to “vindictive and unethical politics” out of fear. She added, “We will confront this propaganda in the court of law.”
Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav also slammed the government, asserting that neither Rahul Gandhi nor the Congress party will be intimidated by what he called “fabricated chargesheets.”
He added, “Every Congress worker stands united. The current environment in the country shows that anyone who dares to question the government faces suppression.”
The Congress had earlier announced nationwide demonstrations, including protests in front of ED offices across states and at central government establishments, condemning what it calls the misuse of central agencies against political opponents.
