Partition Was Recent History’s Greatest Blunder, Driven by Personal Ambition: Dr. Jitendra Singh at News18 Rising Bharat Summit 2025

New Delhi, April 9 :Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, in an exclusive session with anchor Anand Narasimhan at the Rising Bharat Summit 2025 organized by News18 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, delivered a sharp critique of India’s Partition, calling it “possibly the greatest blunder in recent world history.”

Dr. Singh asserted that the Partition was driven not by popular sentiment, but by the “personal ambitions” of Jawaharlal Nehru and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He stated that even sections of the Muslim intelligentsia had opposed the idea, but their voices were ignored. “There was no public demand. No yearning. Partition was the result of the personal ambitions of two leaders who couldn’t share power,” he said.

The minister revealed that a “three-way division” — Hindustan, Pakistan, and ‘Princestan’ — was once considered, but averted due to the decisive intervention of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He added that Cyril Radcliffe, the architect of the partition boundary, later admitted it was a mistake.

🔍 Appeasement and Post-Partition Failures

Dr. Singh criticized successive post-independence governments for promoting a culture of appeasement. He named three major policy failures — Article 370, the mishandling of relations with China, and the Non-Aligned Movement — as contributing to India’s weakened global standing in the past.

“For decades, appeasement politics strangled India’s true potential. BJP and leaders like Syama Prasad Mookerjee stood for justice for all — appeasement for none,” he emphasized.

🧑‍🚀 India’s Vision: Space, Youth, and Governance Reforms

As Minister of State for the Department of Space and Science & Technology, Dr. Singh outlined India’s ambitious roadmap for the future:

  • Indian on the Moon by 2040

  • Bharat Space Station by 2035

He highlighted that the space and nuclear sectors, once shrouded in secrecy, are now open to private sector participation, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of innovation-led growth.

🌍 India@2047 and Youth Empowerment

Speaking on PM Modi’s roadmap for India@2047, Dr. Singh called this “the best of times for India,” listing achievements like:

  • Startup Growth: From 350 startups in 2014 to becoming the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem.

  • Reverse Brain Drain: Talented Indian youth abroad now aspire to return and contribute to India.

  • Employment Reforms: Interview-based selection abolished to ensure fairness and opportunity.

  • Civil Services Democratization: Youth from Punjab, Haryana, and J&K are now cracking top ranks.

  • Women’s Empowerment: Girls have topped UPSC exams and lead in entrepreneurship and education.

🏡 Inclusive Development and Antyodaya

Dr. Singh underscored the Modi government’s principle of “justice for all, appeasement for none.” He cited development in neglected minority-dominated colonies and schemes like PM Awas Yojana reaching all needy citizens, regardless of religion or caste.

“No citizen is judged by caste or religion — only by need,” he concluded. “This is the new India — one of unity, opportunity, and aspiration.”
