The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Final in Barbados was a thrilling match between two unbeaten teams, India and South Africa. India emerged victorious by just seven runs.
India batted first, with Virat Kohli scoring a crucial 76 runs, helping the team reach a total of 176/7. Shivam Dube also contributed, partnering with Kohli for a 57-run stand. South Africa made some late breakthroughs, with Marco Jansen and Anrich Nortje taking key wickets in the final overs.
In South Africa’s innings, Jasprit Bumrah struck early, dismissing Reeza Hendricks in the second over. Arshdeep Singh followed up by getting Aiden Markram out. Quinton de Kock and Tristan Stubbs then built a partnership, adding 58 runs off 38 balls. However, Stubbs was bowled out by Axar Patel for 31, and de Kock was caught by Kuldeep Yadav for 39.
Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller brought South Africa close with their powerful hitting, reducing the required run-rate to a run a ball with 30 runs needed. Klaasen scored 52 before being caught by Hardik Pandya, and Miller was out for 21 in the final over, caught by Suryakumar Yadav.
With South Africa needing 20 runs off the last two overs, they couldn’t keep up. Kagiso Rabada was caught by Suryakumar Yadav again, and a single from Anrich Nortje left South Africa eight runs short of victory.
India won the final by seven runs, securing their first T20 World Cup title in over a decade.
