Mukesh Ambani, Family Offer Prayers at Somnath Temple as Reliance Charts AI-Driven Future

Mukesh Ambani visited Gujarat’s Somnath Temple with wife Nita Ambani and son Anant, continuing the family’s annual New Year tradition amid Reliance’s AI vision push.

Somnath (Gujarat) | January 2, 2026- Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Friday visited the historic Somnath Temple in Gujarat along with his wife Nita Ambani and son Anant Ambani, offering prayers at one of India’s most revered religious sites.

The visit, marked by traditional rituals and tight security arrangements, is part of the Ambani family’s long-standing personal practice of seeking blessings at the beginning of the year. Visuals from the temple complex showed the family participating in ceremonial worship amid devotees.

Located at Prabhas Patan near Veraval, the Somnath temple holds immense spiritual and historical significance. Revered as the first of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, the shrine is among the country’s most prominent pilgrimage destinations and also attracts visitors for its architectural legacy and resilience through centuries of reconstruction.

Temple inscriptions and historical records note that the shrine has endured repeated destruction and rebuilding, symbolising endurance and faith. A Sanskrit inscription within the complex has also drawn scholarly interest for its reference to the uninterrupted southern sea route.

The temple visit comes at a time when Mukesh Ambani has drawn national attention for outlining Reliance Industries’ ambitious artificial intelligence roadmap. In a recent message to the group’s vast workforce, Ambani described AI as a transformative force with the potential to reshape economies and societies.

Calling artificial intelligence “a defining technology of the era,” Ambani stressed the importance of responsible deployment, stating that innovation must ultimately serve human progress. He reaffirmed Reliance’s vision of building an “AI-native” enterprise, aiming to integrate advanced technologies across its businesses.

A central pillar of this vision, Ambani noted, is making AI accessible and affordable for Indians, with the objective of improving productivity, efficiency, and outcomes across sectors.
