Skill India Mission Future Ready Skills

New Delhi- The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has rolled out a series of initiatives under the Skill India Mission (SIM) to equip India’s youth with future-ready skills in cutting-edge sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Green Technology, and Cybersecurity.

Through flagship schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS), National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), and the Craftsman Training Scheme (CTS), MSDE continues to deliver training, re-skilling, and up-skilling opportunities across the country. More than 200 new-age job roles aligned with Industry 4.0 have been introduced under PMKVY, while apprenticeships now cover future-oriented trades.

The Directorate General of Training (DGT) has introduced 31 specialized courses in ITIs and NSTIs on areas such as 5G networks, drones, and cybersecurity. To strengthen industry linkages, MoUs have been signed with leading global tech companies including IBM, CISCO, AWS, and Microsoft, ensuring practical exposure for students.

Institutions like the Indian Institutes of Skills (IIS) in Ahmedabad and Mumbai are training a workforce tailored to modern industry needs. Meanwhile, the newly launched Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) serves as a one-stop platform integrating skilling, education, jobs, and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Between 2015 and June 2025, over ₹11,429 crore has been allocated under PMKVY, ₹1,924 crore under NAPS, and ₹883 crore under JSS to strengthen the skilling ecosystem. Additionally, the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) has approved more than 8,600 qualifications, ensuring alignment of training with industry requirements.

Minister of State for Skill Development, Jayant Chaudhary, emphasized that these steps will not only enhance employability but also ensure India’s workforce is globally competitive in fast-evolving sectors.
