A foreign tourist from Japan was allegedly subjected to harassment by a group of men near Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur on Monday morning, prompting a police investigation.
According to officials from the Amer Police Station, the incident occurred at around 8 am when the woman was walking towards a temple located within the fort परिसर. She had reportedly planned to continue her visit towards the hilltop fort after offering prayers.
Police said the area where the incident took place was relatively isolated. A group of five men allegedly approached her, stopped her, and engaged in inappropriate behaviour. When the tourist raised an alarm, the accused fled the spot.
The visitor, who had arrived in Jaipur a few days earlier, immediately informed a nearby security guard. She was then assisted in reaching the police station, where she formally lodged a complaint.
Authorities have since gathered CCTV footage showing the suspects moving downhill after the incident. However, their identities are yet to be confirmed, and they remain untraceable so far.
Police officials stated that teams have been deployed to locate the accused individuals. Meanwhile, the tourist has been safely escorted back to her accommodation, and measures have been taken to ensure her security during her stay. The investigation is ongoing.
