New Delhi– The search for India’s next generation of skilled champions has officially begun. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has launched the registration for IndiaSkills 2025, the nation’s biggest skill development competition, aimed at identifying and empowering India’s most talented youth in vocational and technical fields.
A total of 63 skill categories will be featured in the competition, ranging from Cyber Security and Aircraft Maintenance to Mechatronics, Welding, Fashion Technology, and more. The event invites youth from across all 36 States and Union Territories, offering them a chance to gain national recognition and prepare for the prestigious WorldSkills Competition 2026.
Candidates can register online through the Skill India Digital Hub (SIDH) portal. The last date to apply is 30 September 2025. The competition is open to Indian nationals aged between 16 to 25 years. For advanced technology skills like Cyber Security or Mechatronics, the age limit is extended up to 25 years (born on or after January 1, 2001).
IndiaSkills 2025 will follow a multi-tiered selection process:
Track I involves State-level competitions led by respective State Skill Development Missions (SSDMs).
Track II is handled by Sector Skill Councils (SSCs) for skills not offered by specific states.
Winners from both tracks will proceed to Regional Skill Competitions (RSCs), followed by intensive bootcamps and the IndiaSkills National Competition, which will be centrally organized by the MSDE.
Winners of IndiaSkills 2025 will receive world-class training and mentorship to compete at the WorldSkills Competition 2026, the world’s largest international vocational skills championship. The platform provides not only international exposure but also career-launching opportunities in various high-demand sectors.
IndiaSkills aims to shift the national mindset toward vocational training, building respect and visibility for skilled professions. With the country’s growing emphasis on Atmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India), this competition aligns perfectly with government initiatives like Skill India, Digital India, and Startup India.
