Gandhinagar, October 23, 2025- Dr. Subhash Kumar, Professor in the Department of Society & Development, School of Social Sciences, Central University of Gujarat, Gandhinagar, stands as one of the most influential academicians in the field of Journalism and Mass Communication in India.
Before joining his current position, Dr. Kumar served as the Head of the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication at Manipal University, Jaipur. He is widely credited with establishing Journalism & Mass Communication departments in several leading universities, including Manav Rachna International University (Faridabad), Lovely Professional University (Jalandhar), and JECRC University (Jaipur). With over one and a half decades of teaching experience, Dr. Kumar has contributed significantly to nurturing future media professionals across some of the nation’s top educational institutions.
His diverse areas of expertise encompass Media & Society, Holistic Education, Indian Knowledge Systems, Development Communication, News Writing, Reporting, Editing, Media Ethics, Media History, Media Research, Media Analysis, and the Art of Communication.
Beyond academia, Dr. Kumar has delivered numerous expert talks at reputed media houses and served as a resource person in various universities and colleges. Under the framework of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, he has been at the forefront of promoting and delivering lectures on different aspects of the Bhartiya Gyan Parampara (Indian Knowledge Tradition).
Dr. Kumar began his professional career as a reporter with the leading Hindi daily Dainik Jagran. Over the years, he has authored several research papers published in prestigious national and international journals. His exceptional contributions to education and media have been recognized through multiple honors, including the ‘Vivekananda Samman’ and ‘Dhanwantari Samman’.
A doctorate in Mass Communication and a postgraduate in Journalism & Mass Communication as well as Indian History, Dr. Subhash Kumar continues to pioneer an interdisciplinary approach in communication studies, inspiring a new generation of scholars and practitioners in the ever-evolving media landscape.
