Delhi Police Foreigner Cell Detains 10 Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants

Delhi Police Detain 10 Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants in Outer District Crackdown

New Delhi, March 13, 2026: The Foreigner Cell of the Outer District of the Delhi Police has detained ten Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly residing in the capital without valid travel or identity documents. The operation was conducted as part of an ongoing drive to identify foreign nationals staying illegally in the city.

According to police officials, the action followed intelligence inputs about suspected individuals present near Peeragarhi Chowk in outer Delhi. A surveillance team was deployed in the area, and when the suspects noticed the police presence, they attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended.

During questioning, the detained individuals reportedly failed to produce valid passports or visas. Verification later revealed that their documents had expired, confirming that they were staying in India illegally.

Investigators also found that the group had allegedly entered India with plans to obtain medical visas for travel to Bulgaria, though they did not possess the necessary legal documentation.

Following their detention, legal procedures were initiated, and the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) has begun the process of deporting them to Bangladesh.

Police officials said the arrests were part of a broader verification campaign aimed at identifying undocumented foreigners living in the district. Authorities have been conducting regular checks and intelligence-based operations to detect individuals overstaying visas or residing without proper immigration status.
