Goraksha Peethadhishwar Offers Prayers to Lord Shiva with Full Vedic Rituals; Conducts Havan and Aarti Amid Chanting of Mahamantras

Gorakhpur – On the pious occasion of Sawan Shivratri, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Goraksha Peethadhishwar Yogi Adityanath performed the sacred Rudrabhishek at the ancient Mansarovar Temple located in Andhiyari Bagh, Gorakhpur. The CM invoked the blessings of Lord Shiva (Mahadev) for the welfare, prosperity, and peaceful life of the citizens of Uttar Pradesh.

The auspicious day of Shravan Shivratri, which is observed annually on the Chaturdashi of Krishna Paksha in the holy month of Shravan, holds immense spiritual significance for devotees of Lord Shiva. On this spiritually charged day, thousands across India worship Shiva with devotion and traditional rituals to attain blessings, remove obstacles, and seek inner peace.

CM Yogi, who also serves as the spiritual head of the Goraksha Peeth, began his day at the Mansarovar Temple, one of the most revered Shiva temples in the region. Dressed in traditional saffron attire, the CM personally offered sacred materials like Bilva Patra, lotus flowers, Durva grass, sandalwood paste, and fruits to the Shivalinga. The Rudrabhishek was performed with utmost sanctity using water, cow milk, sugarcane juice, honey, curd, and ghee—following Vedic customs.

The ceremony was conducted by learned Vedic priests from the Gorakhnath Temple, who chanted hymns from the Rudrashtadhyayi of the Shukla Yajurveda Samhita. The air around the temple resonated with the powerful vibrations of “Om Namah Shivaya” and other Mahamantras, creating a deeply spiritual environment. The Rudrabhishek ritual, a form of ceremonial bathing of the Shiva Linga, is believed to cleanse negativity and bring divine energy into one’s life.

Following the Rudrabhishek, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also performed a havan (sacred fire ritual) and an aarti dedicated to Mahadev. Accompanied by rhythmic chants of Vedic mantras and conch shell sounds, the havan was aimed at invoking positive energies and universal peace. During his prayers, CM Yogi sought good health, spiritual enlightenment, harmony, and a prosperous future for every citizen of the state.

Speaking briefly after the rituals, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of preserving India’s rich spiritual traditions and encouraged the youth to remain connected to their roots. He reiterated that devotion to Lord Shiva fosters inner discipline, universal compassion, and a greater sense of community well-being.

Several prominent personalities were present during the occasion. Among them were Yogi Kamalnath, the head priest of the Gorakhnath Temple, Gorakhpur MP Ravi Kishan Shukla, Mayor Dr. Manglesh Shrivastava, MLA Vipin Singh, and MLC Dr. Dharmendra Singh, along with numerous local devotees and followers.

The Mansarovar Temple premises were adorned with fresh flowers, traditional rangolis, and saffron flags. Devotees queued up since early morning to catch a glimpse of the rituals and to receive blessings from Lord Shiva on this spiritually potent day.

The event highlighted not only the religious fervor of the occasion but also the commitment of the Chief Minister to cultural and spiritual heritage, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s identity as a cradle of ancient traditions and divine faith.
