India and Nepal Sign MoUs for Five High-Impact Development Projects in Education and Health

Kathmandu [Nepal], July 21 : Strengthening bilateral ties and grassroots development, India and Nepal on Monday signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for five High-Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in the education and health sectors under Indian grant assistance. The agreements were signed by the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Nepal’s Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, and respective project implementing agencies.

The total estimated cost of these projects is NPR 390 million, and they aim to improve infrastructure and services in rural and semi-urban parts of Nepal.

The five approved projects include:

  1. Construction of Shree Jan Shakti Secondary School Building, Bateshwor-3, Dhanusha

  2. Construction of Shree Mahobani Padam Secondary School, Pokhariya, Parsa

  3. Construction of Shree Basuki Secondary School, Mellekh, Achham

  4. Construction of School Building, Hostel and Library at Benga Sah Secondary School, Prasauni, Bara

  5. Construction of a 5-bed Hospital Building, Nashon Rural Municipality-5, Manang

These projects will be implemented by local authorities, including municipalities and rural municipalities, and are expected to enhance access to quality education and healthcare.

Since 2003, the Government of India has supported 579 High-Impact Development Projects (HIDPs) in Nepal, of which 496 have been completed, spanning sectors such as education, healthcare, drinking water, sanitation, public utilities, and connectivity.

The HICDPs are part of India’s ongoing commitment to support Nepal’s development journey by focusing on grassroots infrastructure and community empowerment across all seven provinces. This collaboration reinforces the close, multi-sectoral partnership between the two countries.
