Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to Inaugurate Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, Celebrating 5 Years of NEP 2020

India's flagship education summit marks a milestone in NEP 2020 implementation with a roadmap for future reforms.

New Delhi— The Ministry of Education will host the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2025 on July 29 at Bharat Mandapam, marking five years since the launch of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will inaugurate the flagship event, which is set to chart the future course of India’s educational transformation.

The event will witness the launch of new initiatives, inauguration of campuses, and foundation stone ceremonies, alongside thematic sessions on key areas of the NEP. A Multimedia Exhibition on Best Practices in education will also be on display.

Since the rollout of NEP 2020, India’s education system has seen a wave of reforms aimed at flexibility, inclusivity, and future-readiness. ABSS 2025 will serve as a national platform for academicians, policymakers, industry leaders, and government officials to reflect on the achievements and outline the roadmap for the next phase of educational growth.

Key discussion themes include:

  • Increasing Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) to 100% by 2030 in secondary education

  • Digital innovation in classrooms and education governance

  • Promoting Bharatiya Bhasha in teaching

  • Integrating Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)

  • Expanding industry-academic partnerships

  • Advancing vocational education and research ecosystems

Higher Education Highlights:

  • Academic Bank of Credits (ABC): 2,469 institutions onboarded; 2.36 crore APAAR IDs seeded

  • National Credit Framework (NCrF): Adopted by 170 universities

  • Biannual Admissions & Multiple Entry-Exit Options: Enabled in 153 universities

  • SWAYAM Platform: Used by 388 universities for credit transfers; 544 online programs offered by 107 HEIs

  • SAMARTH Digital Governance: Implemented in 13,000+ HEIs across 32 States/UTs

  • One Nation One Subscription (ONOS): Access to 13,000+ e-journals in 6,300 institutions

  • Malaviya Mission Teacher Training (MMTTP): 2.5 lakh faculty trained in AI, cybersecurity, mental health, entrepreneurship

School Education Achievements:

  • NEP 2020 implementation impacting 14.72 lakh schools, 98 lakh teachers, and 24.8 crore students

  • PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024 & ASER 2024: Marked improvements in foundational literacy & numeracy

  • ULLAS Scheme for Adult Education: 2.60 crore learners, 42 lakh volunteers; Ladakh became first fully literate UT

  • PM SHRI Schools: 13,076 schools selected for NEP model transformation

  • PM POSHAN Scheme: Expanded to Bal Vatika and School Nutrition Gardens in 6.28 lakh schools

  • SWAYAM PRABHA Channels: Expanded to 200 DTH channels with 92,147 video contents in 30 languages
