New Delhi, November 21, 2025 — The Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD & GR) conducted an Orientation and Awareness Programme on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, reaffirming its commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment.
The session was chaired by the Economic Adviser and Chairperson of the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC). Advocate Ms. Janvi Satpal Babbar, External Member of the ICC, delivered an in-depth presentation covering the provisions of the POSH Act and the rules framed under it. She highlighted the legal requirements, responsibilities of employers, procedural aspects of complaint handling, and the importance of maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity during proceedings.

The programme aimed to equip employees with a comprehensive understanding of both the legal framework and the broader objective of the Act—to foster a culture of dignity, equality, and respect at the workplace. Participants were sensitized on preventing misconduct, recognising unacceptable behaviour, and ensuring a supportive environment for women employees.
Reiterating the department’s resolve, officials emphasised that awareness and training are essential to ensuring Zero Tolerance for workplace harassment and strengthening grievance redressal mechanisms across all departments.
The orientation programme reflects the Government of India’s continued efforts to reinforce safe workplaces and empower employees with legal and ethical awareness.
